Queen’s Graduate Conference in Literature

The Queen’s Graduate Conference in Literature (QGCL) is an annual conference organized by the GES, and is open to all graduate students from any university. Academic papers and creative pieces are welcome!

The theme for QGCL 2024 is “Divergence: Departures from the Canon”. The conference will take place on the May 24th and 25th 2024 in a hybrid format. Submissions are currently open, with the deadline for both creative and academic abstracts being Friday, February 16th, 2024.

Academic presentations will be 15 to 20 minutes. Please be sure to include a title for your presentation with your abstract submission. Academic abstracts should be between 200-300 words.

Creative submissions can come in any form – short stories, poetry, fragments, etc. – but must be no more than 6,000 words or 15 minutes total. Accepted entrants in this category will participate in a creative writing night to read their works, or excerpts from their works, along with other authors and conference participants.

If you are interested in participating in the conference, please submit your abstract at this link. All applicants will be asked to submit a brief biography including their institutional affiliation (75-100 words).
